Taster Wine A/S was founded by Fritz Paustian Senior on 1 July 1946. It all began with import licenses of Hungarian wine. Fritz Paustian Senior, who was very young at that time, knew that the big challenge in using the import licenses consisted in having the wine transported from Hungary to Denmark. Once the wine had arrived to Denmark it would be easy to sell it to the Danish wine dealers. Back then the customers fought over the wine dealers. Today the wine dealers fight over the customers.
Red Cross helped but in a very unusual way. A convoy of 19 trucks was leaving for Hungary with humanitarian aid. Being lieutenant with the Reserve and assisting the leader of the convoy, wine dealer Fritz Paustian Senior went to Hungary. Once in Hungary he managed to convince Red Cross to load the wine on the trucks. Otherwise, the trucks would have returned to Denmark empty.
The history of Taster Wine A/S is short compared to many other wine companies. However, far-seeing activities and a dynamic development have turned Taster Wine A/S into the biggest privatly owned and independent Danish wine company.
Since the beginning in 1946, the following wine companies have either been purchased or taken over:

Today, the 2 sons, Fritz and Ole Paustian, are heading the Taster Wine Group. They have successfully managed the inheritance from their father. In a very unstable market, the Group has been able to continuously increase both sales and turnover.
Today the Taster Wine Group consists of 4 independent units:
| Taster Wine A/S | Wholesale |
| A/S Skjold Burne | The biggest and longest existing chain of fine wine shops in Denmark |
| Oskar Davidsen & Co. | Sale to the hotel and restaurant division |
